Syrian President Al-Sharaa confirmed that a mutual understanding has been reached between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on several issues related to the future of Hasakah Governorate. In a statement received by SANA on Tuesday, the Presidency explained that the SDF has been granted four days to consult on a detailed plan for the practical integration of the areas. The Presidency stated that, if an agreement is reached, Syrian forces will not enter the city centers of Hasakah and Qamishli but will remain on their outskirts. The timeline and details for the peaceful integration of Hasakah Governorate, including the city of Qamishli, will be discussed later. The statement added that it was also confirmed that Syrian military forces will not enter Kurdish villages, and that no armed forces will be present in those villages except for local security forces comprised of residents of the area, in accordance with the agreement. The Syrian Presidency indicated in its statement that Mr. Mazloum Abdi will nominate a candidate from the SDF for the position of Deputy Minister of Defense, in addition to proposing a candidate for the position of Governor of Hasakah, names for representation in the People's Assembly, and a list of individuals for employment within Syrian state institutions. He confirmed that both sides agreed to integrate all SDF military and security forces into the Ministries of Defense and Interior, with discussions continuing on the detailed integration mechanism. Civilian institutions will also be integrated into the Syrian government structure. He explained that Decree No. 13, concerning the linguistic, cultural, and citizenship rights of the Kurds, will be implemented, reflecting a shared commitment to building a unified and strong Syria based on national partnership and guaranteeing the rights of all its components. He indicated that the implementation of this agreement will begin at 8:00 PM today.
