Syrian internal security forces are intensifying their deployment in neighborhoods of Homs to protect a sit-in by residents of areas affected by recent tensions.

Hundreds of protesters took to the streets in the provinces of Latakia, Tartus, and the Hama countryside, responding to calls issued by Muwaffaq Ghazal, a sheikh of the Alawite sect. The majority of the protesters carried banners demanding an end to the killing and decentralization, though some also displayed sectarian slogans and placards. Tight security measures were in place to protect the protest sites and prevent further demonstrations.
In Tartous, protests began at the Al-Saadi roundabout.

1 week agoSyria: last night, a couple was murdered in their home on outskirts of Homs-city. The victims belonged to the (Sunni) Bani Khaled tribe. A sectarian message was left on the wall. Given the sensitivity of the case and the area, the Homs Security Commander swiftly issued a statement saying the investigation is ongoing and urging the residents to exercise restraint

Protests in Damascus Reject Integration with SDF: Several Syrian cities witnessed protests on Friday against the SDF militia. A demonstration was also held in the capital, Damascus, where dozens of citizens took to the streets to express their rejection of the militia's policies and practices in the areas it controls, as well as any talk of merging with it.

2 week agoSyria TV, citing an unnamed source close to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), reported that the SDF demanded the Syrian government halt the anti-government protests, threatening retaliation if they continued. The source explained that the SDF threatened to allow anti-government demonstrations in areas under its control if the protests did not cease.
