Israeli military spokesman Avichai Adraee posted a statement on his Facebook page saying: "In response to the attacks against the Druze population in the Suwaida region: The Israeli army is attacking Syrian regime infrastructure in southern Syria." He added that "during the night, the army attacked a headquarters and military equipment in Syrian regime military camps in southern Syria, following the events that took place in Suwaida yesterday, which he said included attacks on Druze citizens." He emphasized that the army "will not allow harm to come to the Druze in Syria" and that it will continue to work to "protect them," noting that it is monitoring developments in southern Syria and will act according to instructions from the political leadership. In a related context, the Suwaida Governorate witnessed an escalation on the ground last night, as explosions were heard resulting from mortar shells falling in various areas within the city, coinciding with military movements and reinforcements towards the western Suwaida countryside, after targeting sites belonging to the Internal Security Forces with mortar shells, which contributed to the escalation of tension in the region.
